Random Free Vectors Part 1 – Circles

I’m starting a new series today: Random Free Vectors. I started this blog to share things that I like to design, without having to have a client that needs it. So, I’m going to start posting some random vector designs that I like making in my spare time/research. These are obviously going to be more on the decorative/artsy side instead of web design, but they might come in useful as background elements, patterns, etc. I think it’s wrong for these to just sit collecting dust on my hard drive. I’m hoping that some of you can find uses for this series of freebies.

  1. WOW, this is really cool. It’s a great inspiration to see how you can make art just out of circles like these. This first one was cool…

What I really like about you is that you release all your “bits” like freebies, and don’t put any licence on them (other than redistribution). That makes it a lot easier for us who just needs a little inspiration.

    Thank you… again. :)

  2. Espenhh,

You nailed it! I give my files away, but what I’m really trying to do is inspire. I invite everyone to post comments with links to show how you’ve used any of these designs. (I might be adding a reader showcase page soon FYI) It always helps others to see what people have done and learned from these files.

    Always glad to help :)

    ~BittBox

  3. I have to admit, this is one of my favorite website to get inspired. Good websites about Adobe Illustrator are scarce, but luckely we have bittbox.

    Thanks for all the freebies
    and for the inspiration!

  4. Oh how cool!!! Thank you again and again and again for this great inspiration! It’s really helpfull that you not only provide the “flat files” but also the “core files” to see how these things are made :-)

…I would really appreciate a reader showcase – well, I could probably give a bitt :-) back to you and the community what I learned here.

  5. jay,
how much time, on average, do you spend on designing those shapes?
I am really curious, because every time I start things (such as wordpress themes),
it takes days to complete and you are firing out supreme content nearly daily.
It’s fascinating to me. What’s the trick?

    yours,
    jez

  6. I was just looking for cool circles yesterday! So glad I cam across this site!!!

  7. jez,

The amount of time varies depending on the subject matter, but keep in mind that I do this every single day. And these post are not nearly as involved as building a theme. There is no trick, just lots of hard work! On average, I can spend 2-3 hrs or up to an entire day writing (designing) a post.

  8. thank you very much. very nice stuff.

  9. Hey BittBox, I’ve been spending a lot more time in Illustrator lately thanks to you; that program always felt intimidating to me, but I’m slowly picking things up. Thanks!

  17. Hey, just came across your site, and i really love everything that you have put together here.

that said, I’m kinda new to Photoshop (2nd day of the trial)
so I don’t know how to use these. If some one could tell me it would me much appreciated.

  18. Bittbox,

I really love your website. Thanks for sharing the tutorials and freebies, they really inspire me a lot :). At first I thought vector art wasn’t my ‘world’ at all..that I belonged to the deep land down under group *chuckle*.

But you make it seems like it’s not really that difficult to deal with, and your ‘friendly’ tutorial really helps me a lot and make me eager to play around with illustrator.

Hail hail Bittbox, a thank you won’t be enough.

    Rgds,
    Julez
