Free Texture Tuesday: Tree Bark

I hope you guys can find some good uses from these tree bark textures! John Holt had requested these a few weeks back, so here you go man. I’m in need of some more new ideas for texture Tuesday posts, so if there’s anything you would really like to see just let me know, thanks!

*We’re using Flickr from now on to keep better track of the Free Texture Tuesday textures, so just click on the images to view the set, and download Hi-Res versions.

  1. first thoughts, ehhh, then i thought using it with different transparencies would really be nice.

    thank you,

  2. I’d love to see more fabric textures! Thanks so much!

  3. Hi, I preferred the old way of downloading the textures. Clicking the ‘download.zip’ button was so much quicker and easier than individually downloading each picture.

  4. I agree with Spotter5. As I appreciate all the textures you’ve uploaded for Free Texture Tuesday, I don’t have all day to download them individually from Flickr…

  5. I agree with Spotter5, but I won’t complain.

Also, any ideas which trees these are off? The last one looks like black locust, but I might as well be wrong.

  6. Hey, I agree with Shauna and you know what would really help me? Quilted textures, quilts, fabric, even needleart cross-stitch type textures, as well as knitting, yarns, etc. THANKS

  7. As I always look forward to Free Texture tuesday, the change to flicker is disappointing, I’ve been using your textures in creation of printed goods, and now they don’t download as high quality images (maybe I don’t know how to use flicker?). Anyhooo, I wouldn’t mind some Tire textures, or reflections (cool textures reflected off a shiny, like a car)

  8. Sweet looking texture! I was able to DL it just fine from flickr. It’s free… who cares where I have to go to DL it?! :)

  9. Thanks yet again man! Keep up the good work. Don’t listen to these people complaining, they should be grateful that you spent your time creating and uploading these for free.

  10. Always grateful for the great resources, many thanks!

I can’t help but wonder if your goal to keep better track of these would be even better accomplished by using the system of more memorable file names and sequential numbers you had going.

  11. thanks so much. this is something you don’t have to do but you do it anyway, and that is rad.

if you decide to switch back to a .zip instead of the flickr due to complaints, you might look into Wordpress Download Monitor.

    wordpress[dot]org/extend/plugins/download-monitor/

it tracks total downloads of any file. no other bells or whistles yet, but thought i’d throw it out there just in case. paired with regular wordpress stats & analytics it can be very useful.

again, thanks for all the free work to put in. we appreciate it.

  13. Seeing as how I work in the floral industry, foliage and flowers could become very useful.

  14. hey, great idea Gene! Thanks for that – I’ll be looking into that plugin.

    As always, great textures.

  15. I know the zips were more convenient, but the bandwidth cost forced me to flickr. Just trying to keep them free any way I can. :)

  19. I’ve always thought Asphalt and Concrete has some pretty interesting Textures! Also areas where it has been painted!

  20. ohhh…don’t make us do them one by one. I HATE that…the zip was so much faster!

  22. Good job, nice textures!

  23. I wish the .zip option still existed too, but it is low and shameful to complain about FREE stuff. I love the top texture. Thanks for the freebies man!
