Free Hi-Res Photoshop Brushes: Destroyed Heraldry

I’ve got another high resolution Photoshop brush set for everyone’s downloading pleasure! I call these “Destroyed Heraldry,” and they were super fun to make. All of them are super-hi-res (most are 2500px). I spent a lot of time on each one individually, and they are a combnation of over 3 different types of media, and multiple layering effects to get to the end result.

These previews are cropped. There is splatter around the edges, I just cropped to the main body of each brush. There are 10 brushes in the set, each displayed below (and one at the top). All brushes are 2500px (give or take 5-10px, actually, just take).

  30. Wow, these are really nice. I’d absolutely love to see or hear about the process used to create these, even if it’s just a little info. I’m curious about a lot of the flourishes and wings and whatnot… were these illustrations you did, or were they scanned from some other sources? If they were scanned, would you mind letting me know how it was done without worry of copyright issues, etc. Thanks!

  54. Hey..Sorry for this stupid question ins this circle of pros…Where do i have to save this, so i can use it?
    Thanks ;)

  55. @ Katharina – Extract the file and go to Program Files > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop > Presets > Brushes > paste anywhere in the Brushes folder. Once you do this, you’ll have to load them in your current brushes inside Photoshop. Click on your brushes like you’re going to change the brush, click on the top right arrow thingy (like you would to create a new brush, etc.) and go to Load Brushes to choose them from where you saved.

  56. Very cool, thanks so much for sharing :)

  61. I have a question, if you don’t mind. I imported your CS3 file directly into GIMP and that seemed to work well, but I have a friend who uses PaintShop Pro, where it doesn’t seem to work. I assume the PNG files are for such purposes. How do you translate them into usable brush files for PaintShop Pro?
