5 Free Textures: Rock
I’ve never given away textures before, but if everyone likes them, I’ll start making more. (I actually get quite a few requests for textures via email) The first set just happens to be rock, but let me know if you crave more. I’m still getting the hang of the photography thing, but I’m trying because I want to give away more images in the future.
Click on the images to get to the goodies ;)

Yeah textures are awesome, not a big fan of these textures necessarily but textures in general are really handy.
Hye… thx Bittbox for all the freebies…
I’m a newbie in graphics… can u tell me, how can these textures be used? i mean, what program should be used?
Ilman you can use photoshop for the use of textures. I also know a good website for nice textures > http://urbandirty.com
Hey BB,
Thank you. These are coming at just the right time. I’m working on a set inspired by a British artist known only as ‘Banksy’. Google him if you haven’t heard of him over the pond.
Thanks again. Hope you’re settled in your new place.

BittBox continues to be an amazingly valuable, creative resource in a number of ways! I encourage you to keep making your own textures and giving them out — it can lead to such awesome feelings of sharity, especially when you see works of art made with your textures! You’ve likely already experienced such emotions from past "tools" you’ve given out.
On a related note, I’ve made over 600+ seamlessly-tiling 512×512 textures for anyone to use; they’re primarily in surreal, painterly, organic styles… but really do cover a wide swath, so if you’re intrigued, get ‘em for free and ROCK THE ART!
Bittbox you ROCK! get it?
Thanks again for an awsome freebie.

Some old wood textures would be good, like the one in your header.
Ive went 5 months without a camera and im getting 1 next week :)
Thanks Bitt!!
here’s another great texture resource site, it’s not new but they certainly cover the gamut

Thanks for everything u do bitt. i wouldlove to see more textures, because i love using them in my designs.
Integrating textures like these is tremendously useful for retro or rustic or pretty much anything. You lose the scalability of a pure vector, but that isn’t always an issue (or at all for me, working with packaging.) Lay the images over whatever vector art you want to texture and set the image to Multiply or Darken or Lighten…
Some nice paper textures would be nice, if I could make a request… Those are always useful.
Thanks for the great textures they are very inspiring!
I still amazes me how the web is a source for inspiration and resources.
With the web and especially your site you never stop learning, dreaming and being amazed.
Thanks BittBox.
Ooh, thank you so much! Can I put myself in the category of “everyone likes them” so you’ll make more? ;)
This guy also has a couple of textures and photoshop actions up for grabs - grab them at 8+5 actions and textures.
these are awesome because they can be used for so much. Will make sure to download.
hey, hello thanks for the freebie, i was looking for something like that :)
hey, do you have any digital-matte-painting-esque tutorials?
I love textures, and use them in everything pretty much, I recetly have been looking for good papertextures to overlay in photoshop, and incorporate a photograph, which looks really cool.
Thanks, I would love to see paper and wood textures. The vector paper downloads were great!
textures are always needed.
im glad you gave us some and you should definitely give us more.
im ALWAYS in need of different types of paper styled textures. crumpled, wringled, torn, burnt, canvas.. whatever. anything of that that is similar to paper tend to be the kind i like to use the most.
i would suggest that more people are in need of good textures than brushes and vectors bc at the end of the day alot of us can make our own if we need. quality textures arent as easy to come by and i dont like to use the same texture over and over.
more textures! :)
Hey Bitt,
Definitely start posting textures, I haven’t ever really gotten into the habit of using them but I’ll definitely start experimenting with these soon.
Thanks,
Jason
I’m on the hunt for wood grain textures…will definitely check out all links mentioned. Perhaps I need to create my own: kerei board, bamboo ply, chip-board, plus regular oak, pine etc textures would be awesome. What I really want out of life is a simple woodgrain in vector. Hmmm….
I think there’s a shortage of free hi-res textures. They’re not as scarce as free, high-quality vectors, but both categories are extremely useful, and related.
Also: I see lots of grunge out there, but not so much “clean” texture, ie. steel, woodgrain, metalflake, whatever. And good call on papery and canvas textures, David. Always useful.
Bring ‘em on!
Thanks for the free textures. They rock!
Thanks!
(And thanks for sorting out the Bad Behavior thing…I was gutted)…
And all I wanted to say was….they rock! (Like Tom did!)

Bitt’s rocks rock! (they always do!)
I used to visit http://www.grsites.com for my rock textures - they’re seamless but a trifle tiny and really only suited for web/display work.
Thank you so very much Bitt!!!
thanks so much for the textures, will have many many uses!
Have started using textures and quite enjoy them. Am also looking for arty b&w techniques, so if anyone has any ideas then please post them.

Rean Kriel
