5 Free Seamless Vector Patterns

I will elaborate on multiple ways to use these patterns in upcoming posts with both Illustrator and Photoshop, but for now, here are 5 seamless vector patterns for your designs. Formats: AI, EPS, SVG, PNG. Tip: instantly turn these 5 patterns into 10 by reversing the fill into a stroke. For those of you without a vector graphics editor, check out InkScape (free) or you can use the PNG provided with a transparent background.

I am confused on how to use these. Do you just make them into swatches yourself or is there a patterns pallete somewhere? I looked everywhere on that with no luck, please help. Thanks.

Hi there… Your blog is cool. I heard many good stories about Inkscape. Since I am new to the vector art, how is the learning curve like? Is there any good tutorial that you would recommend for a n00b like me?

I too am a n00b in using inkScape, and to tell you the truth I haven’t even searched for tutorials yet, since I do most of my work in Ill/PS.

I did notice that Pixel2Life has in inkscape section last time I was there. About 15 - 20 tuts, but a growing list.

And by the way, for those of you who were wondering, Illustrator doesn’t have a Patterns palette (doh!).
What you do is group all the fills and strokes which make up the pattern piece and just drag it straight into the Swatches palette and a pattern swatch is created for you. This also works with a seamless pattern tile that has been imported as a JPEG or GIF.
