It’s texture grab bag time again! I’ve been experimenting with all kinds of new kinds of textures in Photoshop, and today I have a little sample for you. I’d appreciate any constructive feedback you have on these textures, just leave a comment here or on Flickr if you like. I hope you find some good uses for them, enjoy!

Eddie, a relatively new Illustrator user had a question about raster images in Illustrator. Eddie asks: “I have imported a raster image into illustrator and I would like to know the properties of it (ie dpi). Is there a way of doing this in Illustrator (ie properties box that exists in Corel)? I’m not sure about a Corel equivalent, but there are options in Illustrator to help you out.
Today we have a nice and simple set of grunge textures for you to utilize. I know that these are some of the most used kinds of textures out there, so hopefully they come in handy! Starting next week I’ll be bringing you some spring themed textures, including the always venerable grass textures. Enjoy!

The other day I was walking around some of the back alleys in my town and found lots of awesome texture opportunities. If you are ever out looking for cool textures to shoot on your own, I would highly recommend perusing some back alleys, some of the best textures can be found in the most unlikely of places. Anyway, enjoy these and let me know if you make anything cool with them!

As many of you know, I’ve spent the better part of 3 years working on Brush Pilot, a Photoshop brush previewer for OS X. We are about to come out with a major update that not only adds 4 languages (Spanish, French, Swedish, and Italian), but we are also in the process of fixing two major CS3 bugs. One that involves the folder names of the “Presets” and “Brushes” folders, which is where Photoshop brushes get installed. The other bug is where I need your help. The only thing left in order to complete the next update is what file “Kind” in OS X in Spanish does Brush Pilot need to look for? I usually find these things out on Twitter, or when customer support emails come in, but I’m really excited about this next update, so I thought I’d make a post and reach out to a wider audience. Happy belated Texture Tuesday! Today I have a set of colorful, striped fabric textures for you to check out. What better way to usher in the new season than with brightly colored fabric textures? I’m going to try and introduce some more colorful textures of various sorts in the next couple of weeks. Hope you like them!
