A very welcome new feature in Leopard is the ability to view fonts directly in the finder (Yay!). You can get a full-alphabet-preview in two places: Column view, and Quick Look. The rest of the views display an icon with the letters “Ag.” Hitting spacebar from any view will give you and alphabet preview (in Quick Look). No need to open Fontbook, or a 3rd party browser anymore whoohoo! Anything that saves a little time, and makes my life a little easier is worth a post. Hope it makes your life easier as well :) Source: macosxhints Click on the images for a larger view. From Column view, click on the little preview arrow to reveal the alphabetic font preview. (I made my column wider for posting purposes). Font icons display as “Ag.” Hit the Spacebar from any view and Quick Look gives you an Alphabet preview of the font!

Adobe has just posted a PDF to their website regarding Leopard compatibility. It Looks like most of the CS3 packages will be fine after an update or 2, but CS2 and Older (including Macromedia Studio 8) are marked as “Likely to encounter issues to which there is no solution” and “Not Designed” [for Leopard]. If you are running CS3 Web Standard, it looks like you are good to go, while most of the other packages require updates, however, some of the individual CS3 apps are OK. (including Photoshop and Illustrator). Thanks, pilotzen You can download the PDF from the Adobe homepage.

I promised some of you that I would test CS1 in the new Leopard install and I’m glad to report that (so far) it seems to work fine. Impressive on both Adobe, and Apple’s part in my book, given CS1′s age. I haven’t crunched any huge files yet, but everything I grazed over seemed to be in working order. (I’m only talking about Photoshop and Illustrator here, by the way). You might note that I had CS1 installed on my hard drive and did an “upgrade” to Leopard. I didn’t install CS1 afterwards. Check out the screenshots: Photoshop CS1 on Leopard: Illustrator CS1 in Leopard: The font drop down is really wide. Even the beefiest filters seemed to work ok.
