I found these vintage book cover textures laying around on my hard drive the other day, going unshared. I think they were leftovers from a previous set a couple of years ago, but I thought they are useful enough to share with you guys. Hopefully they’ll help add a little vintage flair to your designs. Enjoy!

Ive got some more awesome software up for grabs. My friends at Strata have recently launched some new products that I think you guys (and gals) will love. Strata Design 3D SE and Strata Foto 3D SE. It’s my job to give 3 copies of both in a bundle from the Mac app store to 3 lucky BittBox commenters. Be sure to read the rules, and good luck :)

Talk about a priceless time saver! John over at Photoshop Style a Day contacted me recently about his new site. They give away a new Photoshop style each day and we’re talking top quality stuff here. I’m sure I’m not the only one that has downloaded styles in bulk, but I think the idea of having a new style each day is nice. You can keep going back and get something new each time. Photoshop Style a Day is a new launch, so the collection isn’t huge yet, but like I said, top quality stuff. I can’t wait to see this resource grow, and I thought there would be plenty of BittBox readers out there that would enjoy this site as well. You can also submit your own style to be featured and shared with the world if you like :)

This week I’ve got a treat for 3 lucky Windows users. My friends at Electric Rain have just released a new Swift3D plugin for Photoshop CS4 Extended, and to spread the word, I’ve got 3 copies to give away! It’s WINDOWS ONLY, (sorry Mac users) so please only comment if you have a Windows machine. If you aren’t familiar with Swift3D, its a 3D modeling and animation software. The plugin aims to add more 3D functionality to Photoshop and it’s packed with features. Some examples can be found here. Good luck everyone :)

In the wake of Shepard Fairey’s debacle with the AP over the rights to the image he used as reference/inspiration for his wildy popular Obama poster, I wanted to share a list of Public Domain Licensed images, in this case, astronomy. Fairey’s situation should hit home with all pixel junkies out there and remind us that we have to pay close attention to the licenses associated with the images we use in our design work. I’ve compiled a list of beautiful, inspiring astronomy images that all have a Public Domain License.
