Mac Users: A Note on Adobe Keyboard Shortcuts

[OS X 10.5] While having a Volume, Brightness, Pause/Play buttons integrated into my keyboard may be convenient, it really drives me crazy that my function keys don’t, well…function like I want them to in Photoshop. (or illustrator, etc.) I want to show you a way that I managed to get around this while keeping the functionality of the media buttons at the same time.

Use Camera Raw to Process Jpegs

I’m pretty sure this is new to CS3 (please chime in if you have CS2, because I don’t) but you can now open jpegs with Photoshop’s Camera Raw plug-in. Camera Raw is essentially what the name suggests, a RAW image processor, built into Photoshop. CS3 now allows us to open jpegs in this neat little editor. You might ask yourself: “Why would I need to use Camera Raw? Why not just edit the image in Photoshop itself?” Well, maybe you don’t want to use Camera Raw, but it’s nice to know you have the option. Especially if you take a lot of pictures in jpeg format (or your camera doesn’t shoot RAW) and you just want to tweak your images without having to apply tons of adjustment layers to get what you want.

Adobe Releases Leopard Support Info

Adobe has just posted a PDF to their website regarding Leopard compatibility. It Looks like most of the CS3 packages will be fine after an update or 2, but CS2 and Older (including Macromedia Studio 8) are marked as “Likely to encounter issues to which there is no solution” and “Not Designed” [for Leopard]. If you are running CS3 Web Standard, it looks like you are good to go, while most of the other packages require updates, however, some of the individual CS3 apps are OK. (including Photoshop and Illustrator).

Thanks, pilotzen

Screenshots: CS1 Running in Leopard

I promised some of you that I would test CS1 in the new Leopard install and I’m glad to report that (so far) it seems to work fine. Impressive on both Adobe, and Apple’s part in my book, given CS1’s age. I haven’t crunched any huge files yet, but everything I grazed over seemed to be in working order. (I’m only talking about Photoshop and Illustrator here, by the way). You might note that I had CS1 installed on my hard drive and did an “upgrade” to Leopard. I didn’t install CS1 afterwards. Check out the screenshots:
