Search Flickr Faster with Compfight

I don’t know about you, but I’m a huge fan of Flickr. I’m no photographer but with the immense number of images on the site, you can spend hours browsing for inspiration. Compfight is a service that allows you to quickly search Flickr and browse hundreds of results instantaneously. There’s also an option to search only the Creative Commons images, saving you a couple clicks compared to Flickr’s own “Advanced Search.” One other thing that makes Compfight useful is the fact that when you roll over each thumbnail, it tells you the pixel dimensions of the ‘original’ size image.

  2. Sweet!

While you guys are on Flickr, check out my stencils…and buy one or five!

    Thanks for looking

  3. This is an awesome and very useful tip. I use flickr’s creative commons search relatively often when I’m looking for an image to use in an ad. Here at the newspaper where I work, we have a subscription to a stock image library, but I find that flickr offers fresher, less dated images than the library that we have access to. Thanks for pointing this out; I’m sure I’ll use it a lot!

  4. That’s a great little widget. I don’t really use flickr as much, so this will definitely help me look for some inspiration for designs. Thanks!

  5. Flickr is the best free stock :-) and I always hated those annoying extra clicks you have to go through on flickr, before you have the Creative Commens option.

Great find Bitt, saves me alot of time

  6. Excellent tips!

  7. I peruse flickr for design ideas a lot and the amount of clicking I have to do to get to the information i want can be annoying, so i’ll have to try this out. The pixel dimensions aspect will be extremely helpful.
