This post marks the birth of a new BittBox category: Resources

In case you might have missed this in the social-media scene, I wanted to make sure everyone knew about IconFinder.net, an essential bookmark for every web designer (in my opinion). Iconfinder is a simple, elegant icon search engine that’s easy to use, and has tons of icons in its database. All icons are licensed with either Creative Commons, GPL, or LGPL. Below is a quick screenshot tour, and If you are a Mac OS X user, they have a Dashboard Search Widget you can download as well.

I use Iconfinder a lot. Good tip! If you look for something special with a glitch of weirdness but still useable for certain projects I use IconBuffet. They have all flavors from stylish to eclectic or weird. Try it out (but I assume you know them already). You can sign up for free and meet other iconistas to discuss and exchange.

OOH! Fabualous link, thanks. This resources section should pile up real soon with some good stuff. Just one thing would be nice for IconFinder: so be able to choose sets at well, so i search for “Home”, find an icon i like, than download similar looking ones at the same time.

I think your step to add resources to your blog is great. Are you also going to add a area for readers to submit helpful resources? I think that would be an added feature of your already great site.

Another good place to find icons is http://www.iconbase.com from (among others) the guy who brought you the Crystal set of icons for KDE,
