50 Free Vector Grunge Corners

I took an evening and put together this set of free vector grunge corners for everyone to download. I have searched countless times for free vector grunge and came up empty handed. Not only are grunge vectors difficult to make, but extremely difficult to find as a freebie (except here on BittBox). Grunge is always a hot item, but have you ever downloaded the PERFECT grunge Photoshop brush, only to find that the brush is 100 pixels wide? Not very helpful if your design is bigger than 100 pixels huh? Well that’s one of the great things about vector graphics, scale isn’t a factor. You can scale vectors all day to fit your design, without compromising a pixel-worth of quality. I think I have a few vector paths here to keep you busy for a while, enjoy :) Formats: AI, EPS, SVG, PNG, Ill8.

P.S. I also included some source grunge for you to play around with.

Brand Nu V2 Launches

Brand Nu is the online portfolio of Radim Malinic, a Digital Artist/Illustrator from the UK. His work is extremely high quality, and highly sought-after. Brand Nu launched a new version of the site today, along with 24 new works! This is one of my favorite sites, not only because the artwork is magnificent, but it’s a source of inspiration as well as an example of an artist pushing the limits of digital media. Take a few minutes and browse Brand Nu’s Showcase section to witness some of the very best vector and raster digital art out there.

Pathfinder: Explained

If you aren’t familiar with Illustrator’s extremely handy “Pathfinder” palette, you might sit down for a few moments to play with it, because it is a true time saver, and an excellent tool for manipulating paths. First, of all let me say that “Pathfinder” is a horrible name for this palette. It doesn’t actually “find” paths. It makes it easy to combine paths, divide objects, subtract shapes, etc.

Fun with Illustrator’s Lesser Known, Yet Powerful Tools

Believe it or not, Illustrator is capable of some amazing effects similar to those in Photoshop, all waiting at the tip of your finger in the Tools palette. These are NOT filters, but some lesser known Basic Illustrator Tools that , if harnessed right, can transform a single path into a work of art. I’ll show you some simple examples, but I invite you to explore these really, really easy tools a little further using your imagination.

These effects may or may not be new to you, but I’ve been using Illustrator for over half a decade, and I felt like a kid at a candy store once I started playing around with them! Here is an example of what you can do in a matter of seconds (literally):

Free Vector Web Page Elements – Part 4

Here on BittBox, I like to share things with you, especially those things that can make your life a lot easier. Have you ever discovered something very simple, yet very useful in a program you use on a daily basis, and thought to yourself “Man, That’s sooo easy. If only I would have figured that out 3 years ago!” Those are the kinds of things I like to share. Well, I came across an awesome tutorial a few days ago on NDesign Studio that explains one of those very simple things in Illustrator: Easy Abstract Lines. I started experimenting with these lines, and incorporated them into some vector buttons and headers, and I invite you to do the same (experiment). I guess what I’m saying is that this set of freebies is meant more-or-less to inspire your creativity a bit, and play with a new tool (if you don’t already know about it, of course) Abstract lines via the Blend Tool.
