Today’s freebie is a set of five super high-res subtle grunge Photoshop brushes. They’re perfect for adding just a little bit of texture to your work without overdoing it. These were inspired by Liam McKay’s awesome subtle grunge brushes he’s been posting on WeFunction, if you haven’t already, go check them out.
Today we’ve got a set of grungy white brick textures for you. They’re perfect for adding a hint of urban feel to your designs and super high-res, so no need to worry if they’re large enough. Enjoy!
Editor’s note: This is the first in an interview series called Day of the Designer, where we’ll have a designer cover the basics of one of their works days. They can include pictures and screenshots of their day, share workflow tips, describe how they promote themselves and utilize social sites, and cover what programs they use throughout their workday. If you’re a designer that’s interested in being featured here, leave me a comment or shoot me an email. Thanks!
A day at Studio Ace of Spade
Hello there. I’m Simon, one of the two partners and designers at Studio Ace of Spade (http://studioaceofspade.com).
This Friday I want to shed some light on a nice selection of freebies from Photoshop Island, a premium resource site. Photoshop Island was generous enough to host a contest on BittBox a couple weeks ago, but I wanted to make sure everyone knows about their free section. They regularly add new freebies, so it’s a good place to add to the ol’ mountain of bookmarks for future freebie searching.Below are just a couple of samples of what you’ll find.
This week I’ve got some really cool dried paint textures from a local welding shop. Someone decided to use a giant piece of plex for a painting palette. I found it in in a back corner of a shop and snapped some images. I know it’s Wednesday, been under the weather for a couple days :(

I’ve got one more set of high-res Photoshop brushes for you on this Freebie Friday post, then we’ll be switching it up. This is a set of watercolor brushes that measure 2500px on the long side, big enough for nearly all of your projects. Try layering a few of the brushes on top of each other to gain a natural look and feel. Enjoy!
If you’re one of the 750 million people on Facebook you can now join the Bittbox group and get updates about new posts along with exclusive freebies every once in a while. I personally think Facebook groups are a great way for bloggers and their readers to interact and get to know each other. So what are you waiting for? Head over, give us a like, and feel free to say hey and introduce yourself.
