Comments on: How to set the default program to open a certain type of file in Mac OS X

When I try to set the default app for a .pages doc to Pages, and then click ‘Change All’ it flips the default app back to Word.

I’m getting no where

Do you know what’s happening under the covers when you press “Change All”? The reason that I ask is that my application will open wave files as the default using “Always Open With” for individual files, but when I try it from Get Info and press Change All, the application reverts back to iTunes. I don’t have this problem with other audio apps so I know there must be an issue with mine, but how do I find out what the issue is?

Hi there, I have a question. I somehow set up for my RSS feeds to open with Microsoft Entourage (email program) but it cannot open them, so everytime I open an RSS feed nothing happens. And since the feed is not on my computer, I can’t right click it and select ‘Always Open With.’ Any suggestions?
