Tons and Tons of Design Inspiration: Concert Posters

We all like a little inspiration sometimes, and we all need some sometimes too. I like browsing concert posters or “informational art” as I like to call it. Pretty much anything goes in the world of poster art, so you never know what to expect (which is great) and it’s an area of the art/design world that is very rich on the visual side, not to mention the creative type treatments.

Design Inspiration: Concert Posters

I have a collection of poster art sites listed for you (below) to browse around and soak in the pixels. GigPosters.com is by far the largest with literally thousands of posters to look at. Below are some poster designs that I found interesting after browsing around for a while.

  53. Nice post. Totally different from the usual – good job! I think some of these posters, and the immediate ones I spotted at the links, were great! It’s interesting to see the style that is at the majority : a sort of old-school mixed with new school style. What makes me happy, too, is that there is less 3D art as 3D art can be MAJORLY cheesy if not done right. I know another designer who used 3D art for the cover of a book; not cool. He could have rather found inspiration here – I’ll be sending him this side next time.

  54. Beautiful! As an avid fan of visual art, posters and other similar works of art are as interesting as painting landscapes. But mind you these masterpieces although seldom given the highest value unlike paintings, oftentimes underwent a more intricate process than the latter.

  55. Are these posters available for use as layout for social networking profiles? They’re so beautiful and speak about some unique set of attitudes. I wonder if they come in various usages.

  61. Tom Hamilton

Man, the best tour concert poster artist hands down is Jefferson Wood. He has won so many contests it is not even funny. And his Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers concert poster is listed by billboard as #18 in the best concert posters of all time.

Check out http://www.concertpostergraphics.com, it has a some pictures of his posters. If anyone has a copy of his Eric Clapton poster that they would like to sell, I am looking for one.
    Thanks,

  70. Tom, I have a copy of that Jefferson Wood Eric Clapton poster you are looking for. But you won’t like the price. I got it framed and put behind museum glass, so I am not that willing to part with it. Looking to get 4 figures for it, if I were to sell at all, since I am attached to it.
