Ice Storm Woes

Sorry for the slow week everyone. Oklahoma City (my home) got hit with a wicked ice storm and I haven’t had power for more than 5 days. And I’m told it could take up to 2 weeks to get the internet back up for everyone in the city. Hopefully I’ll be back up and running full-speed soon : (

  1. We seemed to have been in a special part of Edmond that dodged all but 3 hours of electrical outage. If you need anything you have my email.

  2. Cruddy. We were just talking about your site at lunch and my guess was that you were taking advantage of your new freedom and had taken a vacation. ;-) Sorry to hear that I was wrong.

  3. I feel your pain. I’ve been without power for 5 days as well. I’m in the Tulsa area. But it should be back up soon!

  4. Ponca City, OK didn’t lose power, missed all but the first flurry of a crust of ice - nothing, really. But I tried to pay my car insurance bill Wednesday - couldn’t. Farm Bureau runs the whole state from OKC - so the whole state is waiting for the home office to come up - to take payments, start taking claims ..

Hopefully the power is back sooner than announced. Hang in there!

  5. Here in Moore we got hit ridiculously hard - Luckily we got power back after two days (somehow), but all of our trees got 2-3 inches of ice coating and have fallen over.

Welcome back to Oklahoma. Remember, this is just OK’s way of keeping you on your toes ; )

  6. i am new and i like this site i gotta track this delicious blog.

  7. Maybe now you have time to finish that tutorial you promised to make, on your beautiful picture with the girl?

  8. Sorry to hear Bitt. We’ll be here when you return to your “normal” state :)

  9. The icy cold beatuiful of the photo seems so inocent compared to what OK has experienced. Stay warm and dry.

  10. That sucks. I moved from Connecticut to down South about 8 months ago. Way south. I’m in South America. My family is all over the States and they’ve been getting pummled.

  11. Hope all you guys experiencing ice issues get back to normal soon.

  12. Just get a coffe, a pijama, turn on the TV and lay back to relax…..

  13. Yeah the news reported over 600,000 without power at one point. My office was without power so I didn’t work, seems it is difficult for a web design company to do much without electricity. haha.

I didn’t work Monday or Tuesday, it was like a mini-vacation. I stayed home and luckily had power the whole time (except for a few flickers).

I’m sorry to hear that you were one of the unlucky ones without power, especially since you just recently moved here. Anyway, I hope you get electricity back soon. At least this new storm didn’t turn out to be as big as the news was predicting.

  14. We just got returned to our home after 6 days without power. I squatted in a seemingly untouched Guthrie at my parents house.

Today’s weather did not justify all of the cancellations I saw on the television.

  15. I snapped that pic in my own front yard on Monday, and I agree. . . Way too serene for the worst ice storm I’m ever seen. Either way, I’ll be up and running soon. Old man winter can’t win forever.

  16. Welcome back to Oklahoma!!!

Stillwater barely got more than rain all week long. We got a little snow on Saturday but was pretty much all gone by Sunday afternoon. Hope everything’s ok your direction stay safe and hope to see you back soon!

  17. Man sorry to hear that and here I am in the UK complaining about it being below zero - it makes me feel better that at least I have the necessities - food, warmth and the internet, hope u get back on track soon xx

  18. Hope you have a pellet stove insert (more efficient) or at least a fireplace and lots of firewood.

  19. Sorry to hear you were hit so hard by the weather mess. Glad to hear things are starting to get back to normal though. We’ve dodged the bullets so far this winter in Central Ohio. Hope you’re back up to speed soon.

  20. About the same here in Tulsa…. Here’s the view from there; http://www.flickr.com/photos/camerasvoice/sets/72157603485833597/

  21. woah. Ive been looking at the site for months and had no idea you were in OKC. you should drop by redhouse sometime!

  22. I had no Idea you were in Oklahoma City. Me too. Lost power for two days and I work from home so it was a pretty big bummer.

  23. does anyone know where to put a downloaded .eps file in illustrator???

  24. I know what you mean.. I was in tulsa. But I only had power out for 1 day thank god (its because we are right next to a university so they had to get the power up quick)
