Hurry! Help Send David Bracetty to FOWA
Nick La, over at WebDesignerWall recently contacted me with a cool story. A college student by the name of David Bracetty is selling ad spaces on a t-shirt in order to raise funds to go to FOWA (Future of Web Apps) in Miami, Florida. He will be wearing the t-shirt both days in an effort to pay for his trip. I recently purchased a couple spaces for BittBox, but time is running thin. His funds need to be raised by Feb 20th in order to get the shirt printed in time, so I decided to post about to try and help him out. If you have a website, and you can spare a cool $20, please visit David’s Website. I hope we can get you to FOWA David!!! (I remember how broke I was in college, and this is a great cause)

Here’s a look at some of the current advertiser on the front of the shirt. (mine’s going on the Back)

What a great idea!
Our company just bought an ad for him. Hopefully he makes enough to go. I went to FOWA in San Fran a few years ago and it was pretty fun. Thanks for posting this and helping a future colleague out!
uhmmmm… i don’t know, but it seems kinda lame to me…
maybe i’m a little cynic but it looks a little too much like panhandling on the internet…

hahaha thats a nice idea, reminds me of a guy who was selling pixels on his web page to pay for college. I think people who come up with such interesting ways to raise money is great. He should go there just for the effort he is putting into all this. I might donate him some money as well :-)
I’m not trying to be mean or anything, but I think this post was a really lame waste of your blogspace, Bitt.
I like this post. I think that its nice to see a successful website help out someone occasionally. I like the story.
I’d like to donate but David’s website is down…
Such a great idea! I hope you can go to FOWA, David!
PS: the link to his site doesn’t work for me… :-(
Maybe he could use that ‘creative’ energy to get a job if he wants to go so bad. I know it’s not a great economy right now and all, but you don’t see me (someone who is out of work) sticking my hand out and expecting something for nothing (what good would the ad space do, really?).
Or just do what the US is doing right now and ‘put it on the card’.
i agree with Steph,
it looks like another way to get money of people or maybe im too suspicious.
Yes, it is getting money from people from people but it’s chasing a dream. If people want to help him achieve his dreams, by all means. If you disagree with it, don’t participate. Personally I’m just glad he made his dream a reality.
Awesome idea ! Hope he ‘ll get his time well spent there .
Ugh … people starving, animals being maltreated, diseases rampant … and I should donate my $20 to someone to go on a trip.
I don’t want to be cynical … but really? How about a post on helping out your local SPCA’s website?

thanks…
