BittBox Freebies In The Wild: Bonnaroo 2008

It’s always nice to see people put BB freebies to good use, but there’s no way to spot them all. I was flipping through Rolling Stone over the weekend and spotted some of my Illustrator brushes (teardrop foliage) in an ad for Bonnaroo 2008, a huge music & arts festival in Tennessee.

Here’s a closer look at the poster:

The Bonnaroo website is also littered with the teardrop foliage brushes:

  1. Congretulations! Good right to feel proud now! :)

  2. Very cool. Good one for getting into a mag.
I wonder where else you will turn up?

I’m working on a little project right now which might use some of your water colour brushes (I’ll let you know once it is finished if I do use them).

    Well, congrats!

  3. That’s awsome bitt! Gratz.

  4. Very impressive. There’s nothing like seeing your work utilized in print and Web materials. I know I’m always excited no matter how small the project. Congrats Bitt!

  5. That’s great and you make fantastic brushes, but I guess it bothers me that you coudnt get a permission email or phone call. You’re talented and I feel that someone’s taking advantage of that. I personally think you should get paid for it. It’s unbelievably generous of you to pass out these high quality freebies on your website as it is. I work in the business so I see first hand how designers are taken advantage of.

Unless it doesnt bother you. Then cheers!

  6. Aw congrats!

  7. Good stuff man. First you get your shit out on ABC(?), Amsterdam show, now in Rolling Stone, for Bonnaroo no less. Keep up the good work, I wish I had the creativity you do to create my own art pieces like you do.

Keep it up and they will eventually come to you for custom artwork.

  8. You’re a true twenty-first century artist. Way to set a trend, man. You set a lofty example for the worldwide digital artist community.

  9. @ BPS,

I don’t see it that way at all. I may be a little on the generous side, but the freebies I give away are “tools” for designers. What you make with those tools is your own artwork. That is what they are supposed to be used for. (I would love to see more of them in action, but a credit isn’t required in order to use them)

    @Joseph,

    Wow, thanks man :)

    ~Bitt

I sent in a tee shirt contest image for them to use back in 2006 and it was selected. I got two free tickets. would have been nice to do the same for you.

Just send Superfly an email and ask would be nice to see Pearl Jam, DCFC and others. If you like camping and not showering though…

Maybe next year enter their contest and win tickets.

  23. The tear drop brushes were the first thing I noticed when Bonnaroo first put up the website for this year! Way to go BB!

  24. I wonder how they did the background “lines”, the shaded ones all over. Anyone has an idea?

  25. :D!

  26. just goes to show how useful your work is…i’m sure i speak for everyone when i say “Thanks!”

the background could’ve been a gradient mesh and the lines just overlayed onto it…just a thought

  43. I think you are screwing yourself out of alot of money that you could of made if you charged for these or if they hired you to do the poster.. your getting taking advantage of.. sure you think its great by giving away free stuff and think ur helping people and being good and all but what we do is a business and a passion and i dont want to see our design bussiness community being taken advantage of for people who make there living doing this.. don’t let every tom dick and harry take advantage.. and i hope you are getting paid for this,, dont tell me its not about the money or this is just a hobby for you and u have another job besides design.. u guys do do a great job on this site and the tutorials help so do the free high res backgrounds but i would charge for these designs we are designers we can make our own backgrounds and elements.. sometimes we just need to know how to make them thats were the tutorials come in.. ok im done..
