Aperture 2 Released: Only $199
With all of the recent activity with Apple updates and software releases, this one caught me a little off guard. Apple has just released Aperture 2, and shaved a $100 off the price. (Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe it used to be around $300) If you’re a Mac user and a Photographer, this is great news. Personally, I love Aperture for RAW image processing. I think I’m finally gonna buckle down and drop the cash for it this time. Can’t wait to see what’s new!

It also looks like Apple is making sure they take care of people who recently purchased Aperture 1.5 (Maybe they really did learn something from the whole iPhone-early-adopter situation). If you purchased Aperture 1.5 between January 1st, 2008 and March 14th, 2008, you can upgrade to Aperture 2 for $9.95. More info here.
If you bought Aperture before January 1st, 2008, your upgrade will be $99.

What offers Aperture what I can’t do with Photoshop CS3?
Gr8 news - especially with regards price! However tempting, still favour Lightrooms ultra fast browsing, mods + ease of use etc. Aperture seems to demand a top graphics card, dual screen and tons of RAM to function properly! Will definitely be checking out the trial though! nice work bBOX. Keep up the good work!
edwin - I wouldn’t compare it with cs3, however I will say, What does Aperture offer that one can not do with Photoshop Lightroom?
Well, for me, Lightroom is not as intuitive as Aperture for photo management. That’s my main reason why I use Aperture and why I’m going to put the money down for this upgrade. It is a really nice upgrade with .Mac integration, faster performance and an improved workflow.
Lightroom is nice, but I just don’t like how it lets me work with a lot of photos. Aperture has less effects to put on your photos, but I can export my images to Photoshop for that stuff. I just like to have Aperture for the management and minimal tweaks to red eye, shadows, sharpness, exposure, color saturation, etc…
Hope that helps a bit.
