I provide a lot of free [original] source files on this site, so I think It’s important for you to know exactly what you can do with those files.
BittBox source files (freebie downloads) are original works, and therefore subject to copyright. What does this mean? I’ll tell you: Since the files you download from BittBox.com are my original artwork, they are copyrighted by me with Some Rights Reserved for my protection provided by Creative Commons License, however, there are certain things you can do with them. Here’s what you can and can’t do:
First and foremost you need to understand one thing: Just because it’s free, doesn’t mean it’s copyright free. Every file (and every file contained within those files) I create/give away is copyrighted by me. I own the rights to all of my artwork. Get permission from me if you are unsure about anything. Getting permission is the right thing to do and it will save you a lot of trouble rather than getting caught selling my work.
Terms and Conditions for all BittBox.com Downloads:
1. You may NOT Redistribute BittBox Original Source files from your own site. Specifically, you can not download BittBox original designs, upload them to your own server, and redistribute as your own download, in whole or in part. In order to share BittBox resources, you must link to the BittBox page where the source file is located.
3. You may NOT adapt BittBox’s free source files in order to charge money for them. (This includes vectorizing my brushes)
4. You may NOT take any BittBox file (including zip files) and claim it as your own.
5. You may NOT take any BittBox file and sell it on a stock photography/vector resource site.
6. You may NOT take any BittBox Brush set and vectorize them in order to sell on a stock photography/vector resource site.
7. You may NOT ever copy and paste one of my entire articles on your own site. You may only feature an excerpt on your site and link to mine for the original story. Copying articles in full (even if you link back) is still copyright infringement. Excerpts only please.
By using my files, content, or both you agree to these terms and conditions which are subject to change without notice. Violating these terms and conditions could and will result in punishment to the maximum extent under law.
Do these things:
Use Bittbox files in posters, website designs, cd covers, postcards, annuals, flyers, business cards, branding, . . . DESIGN.
Use BittBox buttons as a part of a UI for a software you are developing.
Use BittBox files as a learning experience to grow and create your own excellent designs.
Take a screenshot or grab an image from one of my posts and link to the post if you want to allow your visitors access to BittBox Files. (hotlinking won’t work, trust me)

I don’t know how I got here but this is a fantastic site! Thanks you very much for the “freebies”.
Cheers,
James
Is it okay for me to use some of your free vectors for contest entries? This wasn’t covered in your TOU or in the comments so far so I thought I’d ask.
@Rui,
Sure. That’s ok with me. :)
We are considering parchase, but we’d like to ask about licence in broadcasting.
Do we need any specialized licence for broadcasting in Japanese tv station if we use images which are made with BittBox Freebies?
> images which are made with BittBox Freebies?
->I mean
images which are made with free-high-res-photoshop-brushes-grungy-watercolor?
@ATS
You may use the graphics on your tv station without a license and free of charge. Permission granted.
Jay
I appreiciate your generosity! Thank you for quick
reply
Is the TOU saying that we can’t sell the freebies or that we also can not use them as part of a poster/logo/website that we are selling as well?
@SME
You can use them in your designs, even if you sell your designs. You just can’t sell or redistrinute the freebie source files.
Jay
Okay, and you thought the questions had subsided…
What are the TOU’s for Conglomerfont (since the art is created from several people)
BTW: Thanks for your generosity!! and wonderful art!
@viv,
feel free to use for personal and commercial.
jay
awesome thanks :)
Hi! Most of my questions have been more than amply answered in the comments above, so I really just want to say that you are incredibly awesome, and thank you so much for your generosity and goodwill! I will be sure to credit you with a link when I use your designs. May the world be filled with more people like you! :D Have a great day!
so when i use a brush set, or a font, or some other freebie in creating some images for a website background, i’d attribute back to here, and thats all i need to do to use them???
@kumhianoa,
No ttribution is necessary for using them like that. They’re simply tools :)
Jay
I am assuming that I can use your brushes and vector files to create vector images for microstock websites; as long as I am creating my own work and using your resources as tools for my image? Everything I would use would be changed and modified to work for my images and your content would not be the only content in each illustration. Is this ok?
Thanks for such a great resource.
Joshua
@Joshua,
Yes, that’s correct.
Jay
the light blur free texture pack has wonderful images…I could definitely use them for a ballet poster i’m working on! may I?
its a non profit performing arts organization’s annual showcase and this would be perfect for it. The poster will be printed and posted at a ton of places so i thought i’d check with you first. :D
@deannelx,
That’s perfectly fine, go nuts!
Jay
Im a web designer….. i do web templates for one web design template selling company…. can i use your art works as a part in my templates which i design for them….

Inspirational Imagery! Thanks
Hi!
I want to make sure about the CU stuff, I downloaded one of the free texture and I wonder if I can use that as one of my product for sale.
Thanks!
@Winnie,
No. You can’t sell the textures we give away for free. You can use them in your designs for sale, but you can’t sell the textures themselves.
Jay
Just wanna say… thank your for these awesome sites, free stuff, inspiring examples and your great effords to keep them up2date and interesting.
Hi again … I mean after I re-design the texture, with color and wordings and else, can I sell them??
Great works! congratulations, it´s very kind that some of they are available for designers.
let´s use it with responsability and profesional ethic.
thank´s dude!
Daniel HG.
Excuse me, I am entering a competition that includes designing and making an album cover for “Page 44″
I stumbled across your tutorial brush “35 free brushes” and was wondering If I could use it to enter the competition?
The brush may be modified using overlapping techniques and hopefully with your permission I can enter.
Kind regards.
@BanjO
Yes, that’s fine. :)
Jay
And i have just noticed more of your outstandin work? can i use a couple of pieces to modify another one of your piece of art with? thankyou.
Hi there,
I want to put on my site some of my own original source files for others to use. And I wanted to ask you if I can use the licence description, which you have here (or at least some parts of it).
@Orson,
Yes, that’s perfectly ok with me :)
Jay
I am currently creating a layout for a pen & paper roleplaying “one-page adventure” for a adventure creation contest. I want to make use some of your free textures. Is it ok, when I add the following to my works?
“The textures are copyright bittbox.com. Used with permission.” (provided I get your permission)
I am also working on some book projects where I want to use some of your awesome paper textures. Would a short notice like the one above be sufficient?
I am a creator of digiscrap material, I make papers and elements to use in digital scrapbooking wich I sell at a webshop. Can I use your brushes for this or do I need a special license?
Regards Joanna
Hi Jay,
I work as an industrial designer. Would it be ok to use some of your vectors as ornamentation on a panel for a product design we do for a client?
Asker
Hi!! Your work is amazing, thanks!!!
I would like to know if…
Can I to use your brushes in work like this
http://www.littledreamerdesigns.com/newshoppe/product.php?productid=1534&cat=0&page=1
and your texture in…
http://www.littledreamerdesigns.com/newshoppe/product.php?productid=1516&cat=4&page=1
thanks
Cintia
Thank you for offering splendid material!
I paint an illustration in a color and want to use your brush for it. In addition, I want to use your brush to paint with the illustration of another person. (It is non-commercial use entirely.)
Is it necessary to do your copyright indication in these all works?
I want to use your wonderful brush as much as possible, but there is the thing which does not have your copyright indication in a work.
I love your freebies! I have a web company which sells customizable website themes. Is it OK to use your textures and other freebies in the themes? Thanks!
@yuu and Lauren,
Yes, that’s fine :)
Jay
Hi there? How do i have to attribute you (on things like shirts or print stuff)? And can i use your stuff for shirt designs? You have great stuff! I really like it!
Hi, I’m designing some wedding stationery to be sold, is it ok to incorporate your design into mine? thanks.
@Jess,
Yes, that’s fine :)
Jay
Hey there, thanks so much for your resources! They are amazing!
I just want to ask for your permission to use some of your textures and brushes in a few blog designs… before I do that of course. I will credit you and link back even.
The web will be a way better place if everyone is as generous as you! :) So big thanks!
Hello there,
You have such amazing stuff :). Thanks for sharing with us! I’ve used your splatter brushes on an amateur CD booklet for a client. I will be crediting your site on the booklet, I hope that is alright with you!
Have a great day :)
Why are you not answering my questions? Neither mail nor comments?
@xoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
You don’t need to attribute anything for tshirts.
Jay
I guess I’m dense, I’ve read through all of this and don’t see anything referring to digital scrapbooking. Can I use your images to make backgrounds. I wouldn’t be re-distributing the original image of course, and right now I’m not selling anything, just giving away freebies. I would most definitely credit you for anything I use. Thanks!!
@olivia
Yes,
That’s fine.
Jay
Yea! thanks!!
I love your website. I would just like to see if i understand your usage terms. I can use your free items as part of my design work and sell my work as long as i don’t sell you brushes as is. I produce greeting cards and would like to use your great brushes add to my designs.
IS that ok
@Art is Awesome,
Yes, That’s fine :)
Jay
