this is very common tool to ‘escape’ from text command.. i thought most of illustrator user must know since the beginning of learning illustrator..
anyway you should make the explanation simple & straight forward not need to drag people to read it all.. ;)

CTRL+ENTER will do the same trick both in illustrator and photoshop (its more convinient while typing)

hey i am using Ctrl+enter while in typing mode… for very long time… n thats the normal shortcut to come out

Don’t know if anyone else has said this but you can also hit cmnd + click anywhere off of the image, or hit cmnd + enter to exit the text box as well.

This drives me crazy - thanks for the tip. I wish it wasn’t the total opposite in photoshop, though!

One thing I also wonder if you have a tip about - if you create a text line (text tool, click on stage) and then later want it to be a text box that you can resize and wrap the text, is there anything that can be done?

Most people just say to copy text out and create a new one…but is there a better solution?

Awesome tip! Pressing CMD while typing will activate a temp selection tool works in ID, PS and AI.
