i have a macbook, so most of this shortcuts dont work, but in mine a found out that CMD+ENTER does the trick

this is actually one of my biggest frustrations with Adobe. When finished typing, the Esc key will commit your change and select the Move tool in both InDesign AND Illustrator, but in Photoshop it will delete your text box.

After years of using the Esc key to commit my text, its nearly impossible to NOT hit the Esc key in photoshop at least once (my record is 3 times in a row, followed by a thrown mouse and a walk outside for sanity’s sake)

This function [committing type] should be something user selectable in the application preferences. Why its so drastically different in ONE application in the Creative Suite is completely beyond me.

I think “Ctrl + Enter” is better cos’ sometime when using “Escape” it will exit your program unexpectedly!

Easiest for me is to hold “Crtl” while click outside of the text box. Couple others also seem to like that shortcut.

Another thing that most people don’t know about is, in PS, holding SHIFT and whilst still having the text option selected, clicking somewhere else. Starts a new text box. More useful than you’d think.
