Free Hi-Res Watercolor Photoshop Brushes Set II

My first set of Photoshop brushes (high-res watercolor) was pretty popular, so I thought I would feed you all some more. (examples and download instructions below) I’m beginning to make a lot of brushes for myself because I can’t find exactly what I want online. Of course, I would never do that without sharing them with all of you. I hope you like them!

High-Res Watercolor Photoshop Brushes Set 2

In this set of brushes, I went a little more crazy with the strokes. These brushes are more complex than the previous set and were painted on a higher quality paper, so the end result is in fact, much better. I hope you enjoy them, and I also hope you share your designs with the rest of us in the BittBox User Showcase Group on Flickr.

those brushes are ace! I just used them in a new design.

I love it. Few colors and great contrast: white, black, dark red (blood!). No superfluous foliage. No butterflies. A strong concept and nothing else. That’s the eay I like it.

  17. I love these. Thank you.

  18. @Jaxxx

Thanks mate. glad you like it! i’m not the butterfly kind of guy anyway

  19. These are crazy tight, serious props to you again Bittbox.

Q: I get the concept of creating the brushes etc, but how are you getting the layering and depth in the paint as if different fibers of the brush had a different paint load? Make sense?

As always incredible work and hope that you keep it up, your a daily visit and that says alot!

  20. @Ziptied,

I’m not 100% sure how I got the depth you are talking about. I just got some watercolors, a cheap brush, and went to town. Got lucky I guess.

    ~Bitt

  21. i hate to sound like a complete moron but im just a senior in high school and trying to learn photoshop/illustrator on my own and was wondering how you made the color image of all the photoshop brushes. i dont want to rip you off im just trying to learn more and i have good ideas i just dont know how to make them all happen.

    thanks

  22. @tim j

I also don’t want to sound trite, but there is no such thing as a stupid question.

I made a different layer for each brush stroke. Layers, layers, layers. Then I played around with the “layer modes” (normal, multiply, screen, etc.) You will find the setting for layer modes in a dropdown menu in the layers palette.

Also, I sometimes reduce the “flow” setting of the brush in the top menu bar.

    ~Bitt

  23. thanks alot. is there any way to bring them into illustrator?

  24. @tim j

You could open the png’s in illustrator and then do a Live Trace, but i’m not sure how detailed your results will be.

    ~Bitt

  25. No worries, just been trying to create a similar effect in PS for a while now with a single tablet stroke to simulate “painting” as close to possible but getting the look of a fiber brush eludes me. :)

  29. nice resources. keep up the good work bitt.
your brushes are very helpful. :)
to others who don’t have the resources to buy paints or brushes. you can simulate the paint stroke efect with the use of other application such as PAINTER X. Brush inside the canvass as crazy as you want, save it as a jpeg file, open in photoshop, then knockout the white pixels. You can use this as a brush or texture.
    Hope this one helps.
    Cheers:)

Its how to make custom brushes with the lens flare filter in photoshop. You may already know all about it. If you do and you happen to have created a few custom brushes yourself. Id sure be curious as to the funky/crazy brushes youve come up with using the lens flare filter :)

  39. Hi. I have PS7. Could you please expand a little on how to get your brushes to work with that version. I don’t know what you mean by “……here are the PNG Source files so you can make your own brushes if you need to, and for all previous Photoshop versions.”

Thanks for the free offer - they look wonderful.

  56. I get this message when I try to download the CS1 file from Media Fire:

The file you requested was removed for violating MediaFire’s Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy

Not sure what’s up with that….

  57. Yes, the CS1 version seems be down. The png is working though. Any ideas when the CS1 will be back?

  58. MediaFire seems to have it out for me, yet they send no email or reason as to how or why the removed file violates the TOS.
    I’m re-uploading now . . . to my own server this time.

    Sorry about that.

A question if you will; and if you don’t want to share all the secrets I’ll never hold anything against you. How did you make these high-res brushes? I hope I am not crossing the line, I have no bad intentions, just pure discovery as to how these types of things are done =)
