Illustrator: Align to Key Object [HD Video Tutorial]

Although this video was produced a while back, the content is still relevant.

Here we will walk through how you can align to “key objects” in Adobe Illustrator.

  1. Open Align Palette
  2. Click and drag to select both objects
  3. Click once on the object you want to align to. You’ll notice the object will be a darker blue, which is Illustrator’s way of telling you that is your “key object”
  4. Now go back to your Align Palette, be sure “Align to key object” is selected in your “Align to” option.
  5. Simply select the type of alignment you’d like
