Welcome to BittBox V2!

Ive worked long and hard to bring you the latest version of BittBox. I would have been able to launch the redesign weeks earlier if it weren’t for Internet Explorer’s refusal to conform to web standards. (thanks, Microsoft) But anyway, I normally would see no reason to post about a design change, but BittBox IS a design blog, and I realize a lot of you might want to comment on the new design. Read more about the changes and upcoming new features below.

BittBox Reader Designs

A while ago I started the BittBox User Showcase group on Flickr. Since then, the group has grown to well over 200 members and more than 300 images of what BittBox users are designing. The images you see below are designs by some of those users. I wanted to take a minute and highlight some of the great work done by all of YOU. Believe me, choosing only a few was no easy task. All of the images/designs in the showcase group have their own audience, as well as purpose. Take a look below at some of the latest designs by fellow BittBox users, and maybe stop by the User Showcase Group if you want to browse all of the images/designs. Great work everyone!

P.S. New site design coming soon!

New Server

Hi all, just wanted to inform everyone that I’ve just moved to a new server, and I’m trying to iron out a few minor email problems. If you’ve been unable to reach me via email, I apologize and I’m working vigorously to get the problem fixed.

More freebies and tuts coming very soon!

Software to Watch: Pixelmator

If you are a Mac user and don’t want to fork over a ton of money for Photoshop CS3, I have some good news. Pixelmator (unreleased) is a true Mac OS X image editing software due out for public beta at the end of July. The software features an unbelievable UI (probably influenced by the HUD in Aperture from the looks of it) and is set to be priced at a mere $59 US! My source for the pricing and public beta release is an interview with the 2 developers [Salius and Aidas Dailide] behind the project over at wphj blog.

Tons and Tons of Design Inspiration: Concert Posters

We all like a little inspiration sometimes, and we all need some sometimes too. I like browsing concert posters or “informational art” as I like to call it. Pretty much anything goes in the world of poster art, so you never know what to expect (which is great) and it’s an area of the art/design world that is very rich on the visual side, not to mention the creative type treatments.
