In preparation for OS 10.5 Leopard’s release tomorrow, I’ve been poking around the Apple forums and came across a user that claims CS3 is still working after his Leopard Upgrade. I’ve heard tons people begging for an answer to this question, so I thought you all would like to know. Here is the thread, Just installed Leopard by user ray sharpe. He also states that these other apps are working perfectly in Leopard: “Biz, Skype, Handbrake, Toast, Limewire, EyeTV, SiteSucker, Google Earth, Earth Browser, Suitcase Fusion, Parallels, ECI Client V5 (tax), Uncoverit and SnapZ pro.”

I got wind of the Inaugural Blog Action Day a little late, but I want to participate because it’s such a great cause. Blog Action Day is a cooperative effort by bloggers around the world to raise awareness on a given topic each year. This year the topic is (The Environment) climate change and global warming. I’m not going to pretend to give you tips on going green. I’m simply trying to raise awareness by posting about Blog Action Day, and the environment is a topic that I have a deep interest in.
On Oct 1st, Adobe launched a new online file sharing and storage service simply called “Share” (beta). The service is aimed at making it easier for creative professionals to share, deliver and receive large files without email. In order to use this service you need an Adobe ID, which is simple and free, and also gives you access to other sections of the Adobe site like the Developer Center and Exchange ( a place to download plugins and extenstions, etc. for Adobe products)
I don’t know how this one slipped by me, but Inkscape 0.45.1 was recently released. If you aren’t familiar with Inkscape, it’s a free, open source vector graphics editor (like Illustrator) available for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and Fedora. I’m not a regular Inkscape user but I do like the Trace Bitmap feature. If you aren’t willing to drop the cash on Illy, Inkscape is for you. Download Inkscape here.
For all of you who have been drooling over the much-talked-about graphics editor for the Mac, Pixelmator. . . wait no longer! The first version of Pixelmator (1.0) is out of Beta and has been released to the public. Head on over to Pixelmator.com and download a free trial, and remember, the price tag on this software is a mere $59. It may not be (and probably isn’t) as powerful as Photoshop, but it definitely packs more features than what $59 brings to mind.
Something that just came to my attention is the contest that Vecteezy.com is holding for it’s contributors. Today (Sept 20th, 2007) is the last day (**UPDATE Vecteezy has extended the deadline to: Monday Sept 24th, 2007, winners announced Tuesday**) to submit your original vector designs and the winner gets an iPod shuffle, and a $15 iTunes gift card. 2nd place gets a $25 iTunes gift card. All submissions must be Nature in theme and no auto-tracing or Live Trace is allowed. I wish I could have gotten wind of this sooner, but if you have a nature-themed vector collecting dust on your hard drive, might as well submit.
