In this, Part 3 of my Fontlab Studio video series, I will be showing you exactly how to make ligatures. Ligatures are a great way to automatically combine one or more characters into a single glyph, making your font more versatile and feature rich. Ligatures are important because of the way certain letters fit together, and I want to show you how to make your own. Fontlab Studio is a very robust program, and the steps involved in getting ligatures to work, aren’t immediately apparent, so I’m going to share what I’ve learned so far…

Hey everyone, I just launched FontDeals.com, the world’s first font bundle site. For the inaugural bundle, we are selling 15 font families (29 fonts total) for only $49. That’s $506 worth of fonts at a whopping 90% discount ($1.68 per font), and it will only be on the market for 15 days. The first 2000 customers will receive a free Giga Vector Pack 3 from Designious.com. You can see a brief preview of the fonts in the bundle after the jump.
This is part 1 of a continuing series I’ll be producing about how to use Fontlab Studio to create fonts, from start to finish. It’s been a challenge to learn Fontlab because it’s a very robust software, so I’m passing along everything I learn, as I learn it to help those interested in making their own fonts.

Granted, some of these aren’t entirely that recent, but I haven’t posted about fonts in a while. All three of these fonts are from one of my favorite font designers, Billy Argel. All of them have somewhat of a western feel to them, which I enjoy. They can be downloaded free for personal use, but commercial licenses can be purchased if you need one.

We all need a little inpiration every once in a while, and as we all know, typography is a huge part of design. Designers have been forever experimenting with type, and what a better way to share than good ‘ol Flickr. I’ve made a list of some of the best Typography Flickr groups to feed your creative appetite. Click each Imge to visit the groups. (The groups are in no particular order)

I’ve got another demo font to release to everyone. I call this one Whiteboard Modern and It’s a little different then my usual style. Whiteboard Modern was hand drawn, but created entirely with a Wacom tablet and Illustrator. Anyway, I was just wanting to try something new and see what I could come up with. I’m learning more each time. Hope you like the demo :)
