Last weeks set of grunge frost textures went over really well and I received plenty of requests for more winter-themed textures…so here’s another set for you guys. Once again, thanks to all the original photographers for the ice images. This weeks set is a little lighter and less dirty than last week. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!

I’ve got a cool contest for everyone this week! I’ve got 5 t-shirts from TypographyShop.com to give away, but there’s a catch. I have a friend in need of a band new band name. In order to win a shirt you must leave a comment with a band name suggestion. My friend will pick her favorite 5 suggestions and the 5 winners will receive a shirt of their choice from TypographyShop.com, as well as a chance to get hired to create the band logo and/or album art. (Hint: She wants the name to sound “electronic.”) You can listen to her music over at her myspace page. Good Luck Everyone!

I want to do some winter-themed textures in the weeks leading up to Christmas and I thought I’d start off with something a little out of the box: grungy frost. The frost images came from Flickr and are registered under a Creative Commons license, I’ve left links to the originals below so make sure to go say thanks to the photographers. I went ahead and added a nice helping of grunge and color to the frost, hope you guys like ‘em!

Last week we had a nice set of grunge bokeh textures, but this week we’re keeping it clean with some normal, colorful bokeh. Hopefully you guys can find some unique uses for them, they’d go perfect with any Christmas related designs or pictures. Enjoy!

I recently received an email from Zosia asking me an Illustrator question. Zosia had a vector shape of Africa in Illustrator and wanted to fill the shape with a texture. It’s not as difficult as you might think, but for those of you new to Illustrator, this is a very useful thing to know. You can’t actually “clip” or “cut out” the shape from your texture, but it’s very easy to make a mask, and you still get the same effect.
