Free High-Res Texture Pack: Grungy Watercolor

I know I’ve been on a texture kick recently, but I’m hoping you all don’t mind. These are the textures I created in order to make my most recent set of Photoshop Brushes. I didn’t see a reason to let then collect dust on my hard drive, so I thought I’d share the source files. They look quite different in full color :) You can click on each image to view at Flickr, or download all in a zip at the bottom.

Free High-Res Photoshop Brushes: Grungy Watercolor

I’ve got another set of killer brushes for everyone. These are, as always, super large brushes. There are 10 in the set, and I also included a zip file with PNGs for non-Photoshop users. I’ll be releasing the actual textures themselves in another post soon. I made these from a combination of watercolor and india ink. Hope you put them to good use :) Preview and download after the jump.

Free High-Res Texture Pack: The Anatomy of a *Really* Old Book

I have to admit … These textures were really fun to make. I went to a little book store over the weekend that you can’t even find on Google Maps, bought a book that is about 50 yrs old, dissected it (literally), and scanned all the parts. It took a while, but I have a very cool free high resolution texture pack for everyone to download. There are 12 textures, all over 3000px. You can see them all individually on flickr by clicking on each image, or download all of them in a zip at the bottom.

OS X Workflow: Batch Editing - Renaming a Long List of Files

I’m not sure if this will apply to everyone in the design world, but renaming a huge list of files can be a real pain, and I’ve found myself in need of batch editing countless times. It’s so much faster and easier to do a “Batch Rename” to save a ton of time, and a ton of clicks. OS X has a built-in utility called Automator that can do just that, among many other things. I’ll keep it simple for now, but depending on the reaction I get, maybe I can go into more detail about Automator in future posts.

BittBox V4 Launched!

I’ve needed to re-design the Box for a while now and I finally buckled down and got it done. It’s not perfect by any means, but I think it’s a huge improvement from V3. I still have some work to do, but I was happy enough with the theme to go live. I’ve had a few problems with the comment form, which I plan on fixing, as well as a new “About page” and a few other additions that you might notice in the near future. More after the jump.
