Learn how to earn $125 or more per hour as a freelancer - Free Test Drive
I’ve been releasing some of my Photoshop Brushes, and I’ve gotten lots of feedback on them, so thank you for that. I’ve also gotten a lot of questions concerning how to “make” a Photoshop Brush. I labeled my Brushes as High-Res, but that’s only because they were really BIG brushes. You can make any size Photoshop brush in exactly the same way. Here’s how.

I have been working on these buttons for a while now, and I’m finally happy enough with them to release them to the public. You might notice that they are very slightly inset/beveled into the background. I was going for a high-gloss, graphite, beveled look, similar to what you might see in an application interface. This is only my second set of Photoshop buttons, but the shapes are all vector shapes (except for the dividers) with layer styles applied, so they can be manipulated easily in Photoshop, if you need to customize them. They are intended to be used on a dark background and work best on dark grays.

My first set of Photoshop brushes (high-res watercolor) was pretty popular, so I thought I would feed you all some more. (examples and download instructions below) I’m beginning to make a lot of brushes for myself because I can’t find exactly what I want online. Of course, I would never do that without sharing them with all of you. I hope you like them!

Lots of my readers have asked me/been interested in seeing some of my personal designs. I started the BittBox User Showcase @ Flickr recently, but most of what you’ll see there from me are designs I make for my posts here on BittBox. I enjoy taking the time to provide example designs for all of my posts, but I thought you all would like this much better. The image below (and at the BittBox User Showcase) is a personal piece I’ve been working on. I have no client for this. Just an empty living room wall and an appetite to learn and explore new techniques. I’m constantly trying to improve my skills, and practice is the way I do it. I hope you like the piece. (not the final version. I would consider this about halfway done.)

I have been stumbling upon more great artists in my random surfing, and I think you all would really enjoy the sites in this list, if haven’t seen them already. This is the kind of inspiration that makes me skip meals.

I have been listening to your requests and one of the most requested items in my queue is a BittBox User Showcase. I would love to have the resources to create one right here on BittBox, but I am just a designer and BB uses a ton of bandwidth already (mostly the high-quality freebies). I thought long and hard, and decided that Flickr was the way to go. Flickr has all of the tools to bring a user showcase to life (including forum-like discussion) and anyone can upload their designs instantly, without getting approval. I encourage all of you to check out the new Flickr Group I created for you as an effort to bring the growing BittBox Community one step closer together. BittBox is simply my hobby design blog (for now), but I must be doing something right because I have been getting an overwhelming sense of a developing community here. I can’t wait to see what you have created! Your turn to teach me somethin!, watch for me in the discussion section. ; )
