Illustrator: Using Swift as a powerful 3D Illustration Tool

If you don’t know what Swift is, it’s a relatively new software by Electric Rain that specializes in rendering 3D vector animations. For the most part, Swift3D is intended to be used in conjunction with Flash, to allow you to model and animate in 3d, and import your Swift animations into the Flash environment. It works fine for that, but I think it’s even better for Illustrating in 3D. Bear with me on the lingo here. . . If you are an illustrator, and you use Illustrator, Swift3D (Currently USD $229) could be a nice investment for you to look into. A year ago this time, it was about $129, so I think the sooner you buy, the better. I’m predicting some major improvements in the next release. Swift is very versatile and supports most platforms, including Intel Macs, and they provide free updates for registered accounts.

Free Vector Badges – Glass

These are some free Glass Style badges I made for everyone. I’m not 100% sure if “Badges” is the correct word, but they are intended to be used as design elements in your website or blog. Web 2.0 sites typically make their own, but for all of you who want quick access to this common design feature, I’ve included PNG and JPG images in the download as well as AI, EPS, and SVG source files. If you want to customize the files you will need a vector graphics editor such as Illustrator or Inkscape.

Great, We get “BigSpy” when all we wanted was a “Keep Digging” button.

Unless I’m a total idiot, the ONE thing that really ticks me off about digg is having to hit “back” in my browser twice, after leaving a comment. Don’t get me wrong, I love digg, and I digg on a daily basis, however, Digg’s latest feature release is a slap in the face.

Be honest. How many of you are actually going to use “BigSpy?” Yeah, me neither. The one feature I have been waiting for from Digg for some time now is a “Keep Digging” button after you leave a comment. I’m not sure if I’m alone on this concept, but as a daily digger, this is my #1 complaint. I don’t know about you, but when I find a problem with Digg or have a suggestion, I send them an email. I respectfully provide feedback, and follow that with praise for the site. I find it hard to believe that BigSpy is a feature that many diggers have been wanting for a long time, or find very useful.

Scientific Visualization of Vista vs OS X

I’m severely disappointed in Vista. Here’s my humorous take on it.

Digg: Even with a Misspelled Title, Quality Content Prevails.

With all of the rumors and controversy involving “gaming” surrounding the Digg community lately, I found this particular story rather refreshing. An obvious mistake was made in this story’s title “Unlocks Your Car Using A Tennis Ball,” yet it not only reached the front page, it made it to the “Top 10″ list. Proof that the Digg community values quality content and digg the most relevant and interesting stories.
